The HTEC-TAMU focuses to provide quality and hands-on manufacturing education. Students design their components using CAD/CAM and integrate with machine tools to actually produce their parts.
HTEC-TAMU Center
Every year, our HTEC-TAMU center provides:
- Hands-on lab exercise/demonstration to ~400 students in MMET 181 course (Manufacturing & Assembly Processes I).
- Hands-on lab projects to 60 students in MMET 380 course (Computer-Aided Manufacturing).
- Hands-on lab projects to 20 students in MMET 418 course (Medical Manufacturing).
- Inspiring demonstrations to 200 high school students, their parents, and teachers.
- Hands-on training to teachers who involve with manufacturing technology or pre-engineering.
Manufacturing Enhancement Program for Teachers
- Motivation:
- To enhance teachers’ manufacturing skills
- To provide a platform for further collaboration and facility enhancement
- To improve students’ skills and perception toward manufacturing
- Participants: All middle and high school teachers who are involving with pre-engineering, technology, robotics, manufacturing… are eligible to participate. No fee will be collected from participants and their schools.
- Incentive:
- Each participant will receive $2,500 upon successful completion of this intensive 2-week training program.
- An addition $1,000 will be awarded to a teacher for successful implementation of new knowledge in his/her curriculum.
- Society of Manufacturing Engineers will grant a 1-year free membership to participating teachers.
- Schedule: June 6 – June 17, 2016.
- Week 1: Orientation. Goal setting. Technical drawing. Metrology. Engineering materials. Computer aided drafting. Manual machining.
- Week 2: Computer aided machining. CNC machining.
- Wrap up: Curriculum implementation. Future plan. Wrap up.
- Application:
- An one-page letter describing your current class/program, plan for implementation, and predicted impact.
- A recommendation letter from your institution.
